We have travelled 40,000 miles in six months, and have still 7500 miles to go before wo reach our destination." AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL MINISTRY. APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT. MELBOURNE, June 19. At a meeting of the Central Council of the Australian Employers' Association it was decided to appeal to the Government to establish a National Ministry, or, failing this, to require an assurance of the postponement of political strife till the end of the war. In the event of both proposals failing, the council urges the establishment of a representative committee of all classes to expedite the manufacture of munitions. AUSTRALIA DAY. SYDNEY, June 19. Mr Hugh Ward has definitely retired from the Australia Day movement. At present the fund stands at £1700. FAULTY BOOTS. WESTRALIAN FIRM PENALISED. PERTH, June 19. The Defence Department has debarred a certain firm from putting in any further tenders for soldiers' boots. The employees working at the factory state that not an ounce of bad material was used in the boots complained of.
