HIDE SALE.
Messrs Waters, Ritchie, and Co. report as follows: —We held a sale of hides at our stores yesterday morning. There was a good attendance of buyers, and comoetition was again very keen for all lines of goodconditioned hides, particularly heavy-weight ox. Prices, us compared with tho previous sale, ruled very firm, with an advance of k d to id per lb on somo of tho very best lots. Our top price for ox was Hid and for cow 9d per lb, and our catalogue consisted of 1279 hides and 251 yearling and calfskins. We quoteOx; Extra, lo|d to llid ; stout heavy, 1 Old to lOfrl; heavy, lOd to 10ad; medium, 9£d to light, B£d to 9d. Cow: Extra stout, to 9£d; heavy and medium. to 9d; light, Bid to Sgd; damaged and bad-conditioned ox and cow, from 6d to B£d; bull and stag, 6d to 6|d: calfskins, IOJd to 10|d for best; medium, 9£d to lOd; damaged and inferior, 3£d to 8d per lb.
