In the Police Court to-day one bookseller was fined £10 and costs and three others each £3 and costs for selling indecent literature in a book called the Winning Post series. HAMILTON, Mav 14. Notice of appeal has been lodged in the case of Bennie (Inspector of Mines) v. William Wood, mine manager at Huntly, who was recently convicted and fined for failing to see the old workings examined daily. HOKITIKA, May 14. Fred O'Connor was committed to the Supreme Court to-day for sentence on a charge of theft from dwellings at Ruatapu.
ASHBURTON, May 14. To-day Martha Bull was fined £50 and costs for sly grog-selling.
