YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

Over 100 boys were present at the meeting of the junior department of the Y.M.C.A. last evening. The meeting -was held to say farewell to Mr S. Wilkinson (boys' work secretary), who is severing his official connection with the work with which he has been associated for the past 12 months; and also to welcome Mr Y. T. Drew, who was recently appointed to the position. Mr Herbert Webb presided over a very enthusiastio and spirited gathering. Eulogistic references were made by Sir Webb and Mr W. Logie to Mr Wilkinson's work and to the manner in which the department had developed under his care. On behalf of the committee and members Mr Webb presented Mr Wilkinson with a travelling-rug in token of the cordial feelings, towards him. Mr Wilkinson, in thanking the donors for their gift, referred to the good times spent in the work, and to the enjoyment, he had had in serving the boys. He urged that the members should give his successor loyal support. _ • . Scoutmaster Lightwood and Mr R. Crawford (chairman of the intermediate department) welcomed Mr Drew in fitting terms, and expressed the pleasure of the association in calling him to the staff. Mr Crawford called upon the members to rally loyally around Mr Drew and give him every assistance. . After _ acknowledging the welcome and good wishes Mr Drew outlined numerpus spheres of work which the junior department could undertake, making special reference to extension work among groups of bovs in the city,_ scarcely touched by the work of the association. Mr Hughes (general secretary) made a presentation to the Y.M.C.A. Scouts of a. drum and colours, given by the residents in the building, and wished the scout troop continued success. The scout troop supplied several interesting irems in the programme. Cheer? and the National Anthem brought an «a tiusiastic gathering to a close.
