CHURCH SERVICES.

At All Saints Church yesterday services were held at 7.30 a.m. and 11 a.m., and in tho evening a lantern service was held Ihere were good congregations on each occasion, and at the midday service Dean Fitchett preached on the subject of tho crucifixion.

Tho special Good Friday services arranged by the Council of Churches were well taken up this year. Largo and sympathetic congregations gathered 'both morning and evening in First Church. We]l-l>no\v.n hymns were heartily sung, and did much towards making the worship bright and attractive. The Drake (president of "the council) conducted the devotional exercises. Tho theme for the morning was "Christ Crucified," oil which two addresses were given the first by Mr M'Callum, on " Christ tho Power of God," and the second bv tho Rev R. Fairmaid, on "Christ the Wisdom of God. With many an apt illustration that manifestly told upon tho audience both speakers urged tho message of tho crucified. According to announcement, tho eveningl subjects wcro "Tho Offence of the Cross" and "Glorying in the Cross." Admirablo addresses were delivered by the Rev. Frank Oldrievo and the Rev. J. T. Pinfold, sending all away with a new vision of God illuxemating the soul.
