WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 22. At- to-day's conference of the Women's Christian Temperance Union there was a discussion on Sabbath observance. Kegrcfc was expressed that trade unions in var:ous centres woro holding picnics on the Sabbath. It was resolved, in view of the. fact that so many persons of both beyond the age for admission to reformatories, are convicted of moral offences, to co-operate with other organisations in asking for legislation for the purpose of providing a farm colony, where such people may be detained for an indeterminate time, the institution to bo under the control of a board composed of an equal number of men and women. It w.-is resolved that legislation besought to provide in future that prohibition orders shall remain in force until a revoration is applied for and proof given that self-control is restored. It was further resolved that tho Minister of be urged to tnke immediate stepn to appoint women patrols to work in the neighbourhood of camps for the ExrKxlitionary Forces' for safeguarding youraj people, and the prevention of disorderlv conduct.
