CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION. iPku L.NiiKD i'uicus Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 22. It is estimated tliut between 150 and 200 footballers huvo been drawn from tho Canterbury Rugby Union's various competition as tlio result of the call for tho Expeditionary Forces. The chairman, at tho annual meet.ujjr of delegates on .Saturday night,' made reference to the splendid response ol footballers to the call of Empire. As a result of tho heavy levy on players tho union would L-o faced with curtailment of tile approaching season's competitions compared with utner years. It was suggested that the Shield competition be deleted this season, and that Unrns play out in the country as often as possible. Tha Kiiggest'.on did not find much favour, mainly on tho score of expense. 'iho matter was. finally left to tiie incoming committee to decide. WEDNESDAY .ASSOCIATION. The lollovving is a summary of tho report to be presented at tho annual mooting, of the Mornmigton Wednesday Assocaition FootbaiPClub: — The oomin.ttee has pleasure in congratulating membi-rs on tne success achieved during tho season 1914. Tho A team played 14 matches, won 12, and two were drawn. As a result of this line record they ran out winners of tho Wednesday Chumpioiwoh.p •Shield. They were also successful in winning tho Fivo-a-side Cup, Charity Ou;>, and the Curtis-Gerrie Cup. The B team played nino matches, won three, lost five, and oue was drawn. This team displayed great keenness, and an improvement is looked forward to in tho coming season. The B's materially assisted the A's after they had lost several mc-mbers, . who departed with the Expeditionary Forces. In the representative match, between Southland and Otago the club was represented by B. Baker, A. C Holland, B. Connor, and D. Jtirkncss, tho last-named holding tho position of captain. These players worthily uphold tho honour of the club on and off tho field.- Training was again neglected by the A team, but the B's showed an improvement. The following members loft with the Expeditionary Forces: —Messrs J. Wallace, A. Hughes, R. Mackie, W. Logan, W. Harmon, and the committee wishes them a distinguished career at tho front and a ! safe and sound return. It is noted with a .great amount of- pleasure that no acc-'dents happened to members during the season, and not a single member had to be spoken to by a referee. The committee is pleased to state that the financial position is good, and wishes members tho same success as was experienced last yeaf.

MOSGIEL RANGERS CLUB. The annual meeting, hefd last evening, was well attended. Mr A. F. Quolch (president) occupied the chair. The a'nnual report and balance sheet were adopted. The latter showed a small debit balance. The report, contained tho following clauses:—Registered players, 14; unregistered players, four; hon. members, three. Being affiliated to RoslynWakiiri, the club .had to pay 4s 6d per member for all registered players, 2e 6f which •went for registration. Two of the members never paid their subs., and, as they were registered' and had played two matches, the club was held responsible.. Tho club piaved 11 matches—one a friendly match, with Kaitangata and 10 in the Cup competitiocs,— with tho following results: —Won 1, lost 9; goals for 11, goals against 45; Cup points, 2. During the season the club was well treated by the Otago Football Association. The club regretted that the promises made of a match at homo and in Dunedin on alternate Saturdays had not been carired out, and this led to Mr Hall's resignation from the Referees' Association. Three members of the club had gone to the front—Gordon Leeden, Robt.. Wylie. and Thos. Dfte.

Tho question of joining Roslyn-Wakavi again this year was left over till next meeting. Tho question of providing some portion of the programme for the Taieri Belgian relief carnival resulted in the decision that an endeavour be made to get . the Hockey. Rusrby, and Soccer Clubs to arrange a special afternoon Oflieo-hearri s wcvp elected as follow : — President, Mr W. E. M'Lean; vice-presi-dents—Messrs A. F. Quelch, T. Walsh, Fowler. Bogg, 'J. P.
