At a meeting of the District Council of the Social Democrat Party, Christchurch, on Friday evening,, candidates for the coming mayoral, municipal, and Harbour Board elections were chosen (says the Lyttelton Times) It was decided to commence the campaign, if possible, on Friday night, by hold a mass meeting in Victoria square, and to conduct a vigorous campaign until 1 tho day of the poll. The candidates I selected were:—Mayocal—Mr,R. M. Spiers; Council—Central' Ward: Messrs C. C. Derrett and G. Wells; St. Albans: Mr R. J. Eckroyd; Linwood: Messrs J. M'Combs MP, D G. Sulliran, and H. F. Herbert; „ Sydenham : Messrs F. Burgoyne, W. Miller, H Hunter, and J. M'Oullough. Harbour Board—Messrs R. M. Spiers, W. Miller, j C. O Derrett, and H. Hunter. The whole of the nominations were made unanimously. Mr M'Combe had been nominated as mavoral candidate by a. number of unions, but declined tho nomination. THE QUESTION OF THE DAY.
