DUNEDIN CITY MISSION.

The following are the principal clauses in the annual report of the Dunedin City Mission,, tho annual meeting , of which will bo held in tho Town Hall on' Friday at 4.15 p.m.:— ■■'~. '

Mr Duncan Wright states:—"ln•'"spite of the stress and strain of war and its concomitant evils we have every reason tor thanking God for the year tnrough which we have just-passed, 'rfoinething 'nas been attempted and something done,' and never lias our mission'been more generously. supported. 'To the members of committee, I gratefully tender my sincere thanks, for cordial' co-operation , and wise counsel during the past 12 months. And with you 1 join in thanking a wide circle of sympathisers whose liberality has' been very marked; and also a, large number of friends who have greatly strengthened my hands in the varied branches ot our city mission work. ■ Accdrding to the terms oi the con-, stitution the following gentlemen, by rotation, retire, from our committee, but are all -eligible for re-election at the annual meeting:—Messrs Andrew King, \V E Sessions,' David Leslie, John A. ij. Adams and E. Odin. With joy 1 note the fact that we have reached oui , twentieth year of Bible claesee in State ecnools. To-day these classes are all quite crowded. Head masters, teachers, and School Committees are most hearty in actively assisting; and parents are 'sincerely grateiul, and are not slow to express their appreciation of our work. 'J. he head master of a lar ,T e school writes: "Mr Duncan Wright continues the successful management ot his Bible classes; To accept every week the responsibility of promot.ng the m °ral and religious welfare of 1003 children is highly satisiactory to all concerned. Of course tne responsibility is very great, but Mr Wright recognises that he has a great opportun.ty of doing good, and therefore iaithiully and cheertuhy lulfils his adopted task. I am pleased to note that every year about fcoO ot my pupils join ]Mr vvright s class, and that parents and committee highly appreciate his eiforts.' My experience (including Britain) amongst children extends over half a century, and my heart stul is. young and buoyant. To Mr F. E. Hilliker we are indebted for having voluntarily conducted a short session of tho Pelichet Bay Band of Hope, and for his promise, to resume the work again this year. The meetings were well: attended, but the removal of Mr and Mrs JvrPnerson and their family to Maori Hill was a distinct loss to us, and to the whole district. We Btdl keep an-open door in Albany Street School on Sunday eveninjr for all comers, and we continue to be hopelul for this present year. In carrying out the duties of a city missionary it is my privilege to see old people, sick folk, lonely and dyiog ones, as well as young people in and around our city, and our quiet spiritual ministrations are much valued in most instances. Happily for me you have never as a committee, hampered me by red tape rules, geographical boundaries, or sectarian limitations, and for this state of matters I am profoundly thankful. Tho cash statement makes delightful reading. Through death and other causes several of our benefaccors have .passed, away, but others who knew that our City Mission depends entirely on free-will offerings have come forward, and the words of Scripture have been literally fulfilled 'My. God shalrsuJply a H your need.'—GaL iv, 19."
