— o '. SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Everything points to a. record attendance of parents, scholars, and the public this it'tcrnooii to witness the third annual schools' championships on the Caledonian Ground. This popular gathering, which is held under the auspices of the Caledonian Society, will start at 1.30, and a varied programme of running, jumping,, obstacle and walking races, together with tugs-of-war, massed displays of physical drill, marching , , etc., combined with amateur athletic events, will bo presented. The massed display of 700 girls attired in white should b.e worth going a long way to see. The various evolutions are very attractive, and reflect great credit on Mr John Hanna, who is responsible for the_ training of the pupils. To lend an additional air to the scene, music will be discoursed by the- band of the 4th Otago Regiment (by permission of Colonel M'Ara) and the massed drum and fife bands from the various schools under the direction of Mr James Ronnie The following handicaps have been declared by Mr A.
