Cardinal Antonio Agliardi, vice-chancellor of the Holy Roman Church, -was born at J Goiogna al Serio, near Bergamo, oh Sep- : tember 4,. 1852. Ho was educated in the faeminary at Bergamo, going afterwards to Rome for further studies in theology and canon law, and receiving a doctor's degree in both subjects. The tension was removed by the Pope's action in sending the nuncio to St. Petersburg to represent him at the Coronation of' Czar. GREYMOUTH, March 2L The said news of the death of lieuienantcolonel Richardson, who died in ramp a 0 Totara Flat,; on Friday night, /was received at Greymouth on Saturday. The deceased, who was a son of the late Hon. E. Richardson, was officer commanding the 13th Regi- " ment (North Canterbury and West Coast districts)/ and had' been in charge of the training of Territorials at Totara Flat foe the past fortnight. He took ill suddenly on Friday, and was attended by the medical ■ officer in camp_ (Dr James, W. MUrearty). 'As _ his condition. became extremely pre- • carious,. Dr Morice (Greymouiii) -was' sent for, and/together with-Major Finnis, left by special car for the camp, but' on Teach- '■ ' ing the Flat at 1 o'clock yesterday Morning •: he found that, the patient's condition was = beyond the aid of medical skill.'
