In connection with the meat supplier which are required by the Imperial Army authorities a. conference took place to-day between tae l'rime Minister and representatives of the freezing companies. Mr Massey states that the result of tlio interview was satisfactory. Of course, the mattoE was a diiticult and intricate one to handle, but he was satisfied from tie assurances given that there would be no difficulty in supplying the requirements of the imperial War Department without interfering with local requirements. Full details iiave yet to be arranged, but the understanding which has been come to is that certain companies will undertake to supply given quantities of various classes of meat# " off the hooks" during the progress oi the war at prices "which must not exceed stipulated prices. It will be impracticable to contract at uniform prices for the whole of the period, but maximums will be fixed, which must not be exceeded. Mr Massey says that in this matter he is glad to see " daylight ahead."
