FIGHTING IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM. LONDON, February 21 (5.15 piri.i. Paris reports infantry actions in Belgium in the rvicinity of Ypres, the Belt; ans retaking a section of a trench wc.uji'ed momentarily by the enemy, who left several hundred dead.

In the Champagne district two German counter-attacks failed.

In the Vosges region three German attacks were repulsed, and French counterattacks are proceeding.

LONDON, February 22 (3.50 a.m.). Paris reports that in the Champagne district a counter-attack by the enemy was brilliantly repulsed, and was followed by an energetic pursuit which made the Allies masters of all the German trenches north and east of the wood taken yesterday. The Allies progressed notably north of Mesni], and captured 100 prisoners. The Germans made their seventh attempt to recover Leseparges, but failed. Petrograd reports that on the left bank of the Vistula hostile attacks were repelled. In the Carpathians an obstinate German attack between the Tukhla and Wyszkoff Passes was repulsed. The Russians by a bayonet attack regained a height north-west of Seneczow. Two sorties by the garrison of Przemysl were easily repulsed, with heavy loss to the enemy.
