THE WAR
THE OTAGO MOTOR AMBULANCE FUND.
THE SECOND THOUSAND. It seems necessary, in order to prevent any misapprehension on the point, to say ibat the remarks cf the Minister of Dofence, in a conference yesterday with members of the Otago Patriotic and Goneril Welfare Association, with reference to misplaced generosity in the provision of funds for motor ambalaixss, do not apply to the Otago Motor Ambulanoe Fund. The amount received l>y us in response to our appeal for fundi for_ the provision of motor ambulances is not intended to be applied to the purchase of these vehicles for use by the New Zealand Expeditionary Foroes, which, the Minister of Defence says, already possess a sufficient equipment of them, but to the purchase of ambulances for use in the conveyance of wounded of the Allies' aimy in Western Europo to the hospitals.
