SPORTING.
THE FORBURY PARK MEETING. The Forbury Park Trotting Club is in tho fortunate position of being able to offer their patrons a card that bears promise of providing some excellent sport, if, indeed, it does not prove the best light-harness gathering ever held in Dunedin. The chief events on the Jirst day's card have filled, in a particularly pleasing manner, and tho acceptances in the chief race of the day reads one of the strongest attractions that the club can offer. At present a field of 12 colour on the card, but it is understood that both Manderene and Evelyn will drop out. The race is regarded as fairly open, and suoh a close handicap should show a fine racing spectacle, unless something can speed away from the field. The recent form showing promise of better things by Evelyn, the sister of Emmeline, makes it a matter of regret that she threatens to drop out. Still, with a field comprising suoh as Adonis, St. Swithin, Wallace Wood, Oalm, Frandocia, and other speedy sorts, a win is not likely to be scored without a big struggle. Tho King George Handicap has also attracted a good field, including tho crack pacer Dillon Hell, who won at the recent Auekand meeting in 2min 13 l-ssec. In the balance of events on the card large fields will probably be the order of tho dny. The first race is timed to start at 1 p.m., the Dunedin Oup, of 650sovg, at 5 p.m., the King George Handicap at 5 p.m., and tho final item on the card at 5.40.
