Press Association—By

LONDON, January 25. The Spectator expresses alarm at tl e way in which Britain and the 'Jnited States are drifting towards danger of collision. While praising the good feeling ehown by prominent American .itizens, the Spectator deplores the callousness of the Washington authorities towards the British cause, comparing the present situation with the Slidell-Mason arrests in 1861, •when British statesmen were just as much at fault as the American statesmen are now. The Daily Chronicle, commenting on the Spectator's article, deprecates its alarmist lone, pointing out that our relations with Washington are exceedingly cordial, and predicting that they will easily bear the strain of the Dacia incident. Danish messages state that there is much feeling in Berlin against the United States for the wholesale way she is trading with the Allies.
