(Prb United Press Association.) CraUSTCirUIICH, January 22. Tho Unversity iScnato continued its sittings to-day. Sir Raburt Stout was reappointed chancellor, and Sir Charles Bowen vice-chan-cellor oil tho motion of Sir Maurice O'Rorke. Tho Chancellor, in returning thanks, said that this would probably bo his last term in tho position, as he £olt that he needed rent.

It was decided, on the motion of Professor Plight, that tho Degrees Examination Committee ma'ko a recommendation on the question of modifying tho statutes relating to doctors, ho as to make it possible for an honors graduate in arts to prooeed to a doctorate on tho presentation of evidence of sufficient research in any branch of any subject of tho arts course. Professor Segar moved—"That candidates for 15.Sc. be allowed to repeat in both pure and applied mathematics." Pro feasor J. R. Brown seconded. Professor Huntor moved an amendment —"That the matter bo referred to tho Board of Studies." Professor Chilton seconded. Mr Hogben said that the whole mathematical counso ought to be referred to the Board of Studies. The motion was agreed to, and tho resolution was referred to the Statutes Committee. Professor Scgar moved—"That a etndent who has won a university scholarship, but for somo reason not discreditable to tho student has had to forgo the emoluments of such scholarship, shall continue to enjoy all tho other privileges." The motion was agreed to, and the resolution was referred to tho Entrance Committee. Professor Segar moved —"That a student having passed the first section of B.A. or B.Sc. in three subjects at the end of his first year, bo allowed, if he desires, to repeat the section at the end of his second year in four subjects." Tho motion was agreed to, and was re-fen-ed to tho Degrees Examination Committee. On the motion of Professor Scott it was agreed—"That arrangements in connection with the engineering travelling scholarship be referred to tho Engineering Committee." Professor Hunter submitted the report of the December Examiners' Committee, which was agreed to as follows: —Entrance scholarship: Latin, Professor H. S. Dettman, M.A. (Auckland); Greek, Mr H. D.
