The 'Veilington Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association has granted the Wairarapa Association's request that the provincial cßampionships be held at Masterton this year on the understanding that the Wellington Oentri- receives ono-half of the net proceeds. February 20 was recommended as the most, fmitable-date. It was also deckled that the oountry clubs' championship meeting bo held at Wanganui on a date to be fixed later. BOXING. PROFESSIONAL LIGHT-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. (Peb United Fbess Association.) NAPIER, January 21. The professional contest at Hastings between Peter Cook (Christchurch) and W. Sbutt (Tiinaru) for tho light-weight' championship of New Zealand and a parse of £40 w.as won by Cook on points. The Timaru man put up a splendid fight, and his supporters considered that the verdict should have been a draw, but on Cook's display of science the referee could not well do otherwise than allow the Christchurch representative to reftiin the championship.

Nominations for all events (except for Apprentices' Plate) and forfeit for the Champagne Slfcakes of the Duncdin Jockey Club's autumn meeting, to bo held on February 17, 18, and 20, close this evening.
