THE SHARE MARKET.
DIJNKDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. The share market was quiet yesterdiiy, no sales being recorded or reported. Waihis were steadier, with buyers at £2 Os 9d, and sellers at £2 Is 9d. Sellers of Waihi Grand Junctions askod £1 4s 6d, with buyers prepared to give £1 4s. Bank stocks had firmer inquiry. Nationals were wanted at £5 3s, and New Zealands at £10 2s (old) and £16 (new), but no sellers came forward. Union SlteatTis again advanced. Buyers of ordinary shares offered £1 2s 6d, with no sellers under £1 3s 3d. The preferential issue was quoted at £1 0s 6d (buyej-) and £1 Is (seller). Motgiel Woollens were in firmer demand at £3 lis, and New Zealand Drugs at £2 4s 3d, but sellers were not quoted. Bank of New Zealand (new)— Buyers £16. Union Bank —Buyers £55. National Insurance —Buyers £2 Bs. Standard Insurance—Buyers £1 14s. Union Steam Ship Company (ord.; — Buyers £1 2s 6d, sellers £1 3s 3d. Union Steam Ship Company (pref.)— Buyers £1 0s 6d, sellers £1 Is. Westport Coal Company—Buyers £1 10s 6d, sellers £1 lis 6d. Westport-Stockton—Sellers ss. New Zealand Coal and Oil —Buyers 2s 6d. WELLINGTON STOCK MARKET. (Pkb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 21. The following Stock Exchange sale was reported at the morning call: —Waihi, £2 Is 6d. No sales were effected in tho afternoon. when closing quotations were as follow :—Talisman Consolidated, sellers £1 8s 6d; Waihi, sellers £2 Is 3d; Waihi Grand Junction, buyers £1 4s.
