EX-KHEDIVE'S PECULATIONS. MEMBERS OF FAMILY DEFRAUDED. CAIRO, January 20. The commission appointed to examine the administration of the religious foundations belonging to the Khedivial family have discovered grave irregularities. The Khedive, with the assistance of the directors of the foundations, has been withdrawing sums due to other members of the family. Sensational revelations are expected. THE NEW KHEDIVE. PEOPLE INDIFFERENT. WHY THEY LOVE AUSTRALASIANS. SYDNEY, January 21. A member of The Australian Expeditionary Force, writing in regard to the accession of the new Sultan of Egypt, says the Egyptians are indifferent and by no meaii3 enthusiastic over the change in Government. Many of them hated the Turkish yoke, but are now learning to love the Australasian soldier—not because they admire him personally, but because he spends money freely.

A correspondent from Petrograd considers that Enver Paha's ambitions and plans in the Caucasus have completely failed. The maximum force the enemy is now able to assemble in the Armenian theatre cannot exceed 80,000 men. The sole course for the remaining Turks is to shut themselves in Erzeroum and there die a valiant death, since it is impossible to expect help from any quarter.

Refugees from Palestine report a steady concentration of Turkish troops in the Beersheba region, 40 miles from the frontier and 150 miles from the Suez Canal. Many German officers are much less confident of success than the Turks.
Many case are reported of ill-treatment of Zionist Jews. The Tnrks have occupied the Mount Carmel Convent.
