Lady Liverpool makes the following appeal to the. public : — "I have been told that some extra oilskins would be greatly appreciated on H.M.S. New Zealand at this strenuous time. I propose, therefore, to start a collection in hall -frowns, so that all who want may help. About six half-crowns will buy one oilskin. 1 will acknowledge all contributions sent to me, and on January 23 the list will be closed and the money cabled to Captain Halsey.
