' Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, of the Rangitikei, a former member of Parliament, is seriously ill in Palmerston North (says the Wellingj ton Post). An operation lor anpendicits ; has been found necessary. I Adjutant Middlemies. who ha 3 been in j charge of the Invercargjll cerns of the Salvation Army for the past two years, has received notice of his transfer (.says the Southland Times) to Dunedin City Corps, I and will leave Invercargill next week. He will be succeeded by Adjutant Sord, of ' Oamaru. Miss M. E. Allman-Marchant, M.A., formerly tho principal of the Otago Girls' High School Dunedin, has been appointed head mistress of the St. Mary's fichcol for Girls, which has been established under the Church of England auspices at Stratford. I The Lyttelton Times states that Con--1 stable J. N. TliomEon, in charge of the Rakaia district, has promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to Dunedin. Constable D. Hyland, of Temuku, formerly of Dunedin, has been promoted to tho rank of sergeant, and will bo transferred to Christ<:hurch. At a meeting of the Southland Hospital arid Charitable Aid Heard yesterday (says I a Press Association message), Dr Stanley E. Brown «as> appointed, subject to the Minister's approval, to the position of medical superintendent at the Southland Hospital, a position rendered vacant through Dr Barclay's removal to Wellington.
