m GUARD'S VAN LEAVES THE RAILS. FOUR LIVES LOST. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. KALGOORLIE, January 7. A sensational accident occurred on the Transcontinental railway. Seventeen men were riding in a guard's van, -which left the rails and turned over, rolling down an embankment. Two men—Hall (the guard) and M'Keown—were killed outright, fyhile two others—Brodrick and Kearney—succumbed to their injuries. Nine others were injured, five of them seriously.
