WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.

The annual meotins; of tho Diinodin Women's Christian Temperance District Union was Juki in tho JToung Women's Christian Association's assembly rooms on Tucs<lay afternoon. Mrs Don (dominion president) oroupied tho chair, and read a letter of greeting and apology from the preeident (Mrs Drive*-), "who was unable, through illness, to be present. Mrs Don urged the members to renewed enthusiasm and activity in the work of getting tho three-fifths handicap reduced, and.of getting other women to realise their responsibility in the licencing of the drink traffic. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were rend and adopted, and hearty votes of thanks wore recorded to Miss Ma7.cngarb and Miss Reed foe the able manner in which they had carried out their duties. Reports of tho year's work were sent in by the auxiliaries at South Duncdin, NorthEast Valley, Port Chalmers, Mosgiel, and Alexandra. The superintendents of tho Dune-din Sailors' Rest, Sabbath observance, Maori work, white ribbon and writing pads, homo and suburban niectincs, and the corresponding and prose secretaries reported Sjtoady work in each department. Votes of thanks -were passed to all those \v!io had been actively engaged in the recent no-license campaign, and to the press for publishing all reports sent in. A very hearty vote of thanks was paired to Mrs Don, who lias devoted hereoif unsparingly to tho fight against the drink traffic. Misses Ilnvwai'd and Mazengarb contributed musical items, and the executive disnonsed afternoon tea. The following officers wore elected:—President, Mrs H. H. Driver; corresponding secretary, Miss 11. Nicol; recording secretary, Miss Mazengarb; ' treasurer, Miss Winnie Reid. The initiation of four new members and the singing of the temperance doxology brought a most enjoyable meeting to a close.
