OMARAMA RUNS
PROPOSED SUBDIVISION. At the meeting of the Land Board held yesterday afternoon th# question of the subdivision of the Omarama runs cauie up for consideration. The Commissioner (Mr Sadd) asked the opinion of the board as to how the two pastoral leases should be cut up. Mr J. C. Anderson: When do they come on the market? The Commissioner: The licenses expire on February 28 The Commissioner said the proposal "was that the land should be cut up into 14 subdivisions—three, being, over 20,000 acres, suitable for pastoral runs; two for small farms; one block was suitable for subdivision into land for workers' homes, and there were eight subdivisions for small grazing runs The board spent a considerable time in looking over the plans, and it was finally decided to cut up tho leases into 15 subdivisions, altering the number of small farms from two to three. Two hundred acres will be set aside for the workers' homes The Commissioner, during the course of the examination of the plans, touched en what was to be dons with the reserves. Mr G. Livingstone: They belong to the Waitaki County, and we intend to fight for them, and r»sscssion is nine points of the law. Mr Anderson, referring to the three pastoral runs, said they could bet that the executors of the late Lady Young would take one of these.
