MELBOURNE, November 23,
Sir Alexander Peacock, Premier of Victoria, has strongly appealed to farmers to put the greatest possible area under wheat. Mr Holman, Premier of New South Wales, is to confer today with the Commonwealth and State authorities, with a view to collective action in the distribution of the available Commonwealth wheat crop, also the importation of any # that may be required.
Two more fires have occurred—at Stone's boot factory and Price and Griffiths, merchants. The total damage at these and Schwartz's fire is estimated at over £80,000.
BRISBANE, November 23.
The annual report of the Queensland Sugar Bureau shows that a largo number of Austrians, Russians, Spaniards, Greeks, and Italians—particularly the last named i—are purchasing sugar farms. SYDNEY, November 23.
