He was 0 committed for sentence. s j A plea of not guilty -was entered by John Gordon, dairyman, of Taita, -who 3 appeared before Mr Cooper, S.M., at the g Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court to-day to ? answer a charge of selling milk beiow the standard required by. the Food and Drugs ] Act. Ernest Middleton (inspector) des posed to purchasing a sample of milk 3 (produced) from Gordon at the Hutt Rail- , way Station on August 20. When ques- ■ tioned by Mr Jackson, witness said the * defendant did not wait for his sample, and that he instructed Inspector Cawdray : to take the sample to Gordon's bouse. This had been done. Corroborative evi--1 dence was given by Inspector J. H."' Cawdray. In answer to his Worship, Mr ( Ostler stated that the analysis of the milk I showed that it contained 9.1 per cent, of . water artificially-added. A fine of £20 was imposed. CHRISTCHURCH, October 7. A young man named George Joseph Dobbs has been committed for trial on a serious charge. The offence was alleged to have taken place at a bachelors' crib where the girl stayed for a week-end. The court was cleared during the hearing.
