OTAGO A. & P. SOCIETY
Tho monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on Wednesday evening, and attended by Messrs T. T. Ritchie (president). A. S Orbell, A. Johnson, J. Smith, W. J Charters, G. R. Ritchie, J Elliott, A. Todd, E. F. Duthie, J. Ross, A. Fleming, F. Freeman, R. A. S. Cantrell, E. Bowler, R. A. Ewini?, and W. Gardiner.
Tho Secretary of the Now Zealand Executive Committee of the Panama Exposition wrote stating that there was an interesting and increasing demand in the United States of America for information relating to all kinds of New Zealand live stock, and that it would bo of considerable service to him if he could bo supplied with a number of copies of the show catalogues of tho society.—lt was resolved to forward the particulars and information desired.
The Town Clerk,' Dunedin. wrote in connection with the Ocean Beach railway line, and stated that ,the agreement of the City Council and the Railway Department for the working of the Ocean Beach railway was about to expire, and the question of renewinsr it was being considered by the CounciL's Tramway Committee. Before going further into the matter it was desired that a conference between the Tramways Committoo and the Otago A. and P. Society should, be held.—After consideration it was resolved that the letter be referred to the Grounds Committee to report.
The Secretary of the Catlin's-Tahakopa Railway Lencrue wrote tending very hearty thanks for the assistance which the society had given in connection with the Catline exhibit at the Winter Show.—Received Tho, Secretary of tho Canterbury A. and P. Association wrote st.nting , that at a meeting of the General Committee of his Association it was decided to sunport tho act'on of the Otnrro A. and P. Society in urging upon the tho necessity of-bringing into force "The Rpirulation of Trade and Commerce Act" n« far as wheat and oats ore concerned, with n view to preventing the inflation of prices by speculators.—Received.
A considerable amount of business in connection wiHi the Summer Show was carefully considered.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Otaso Farmers' Co-ono'-atn'o Association for grantins; tho use of its horso Vinzaar for tho veterinary examination of horses in connection with the society's annual horse show.
