BIG BATTLE RACING.
PARIS, August 27 (morning). (Received Aug. 27, at 10 p.m.) A big battle is raging between Donon and Maubeuge. ITALY'S ATTITUDE. * GERMANY UNEASY. ROTTERDAM, August 27 (morning). (Received Aug. 28, at 0.15 a.m.) Travellers state that the Germans are very nervous regarding Italy's attitude, and express a hope that she will keep neutral. BRITISH STEAMER'S EXPERIENCE. STOPPED BY GERMAN CRUISER. HER WIRELESS INSTALLATION WRECKED. LONDON, August 27 (morning). (Received Aug. 28, at 0.20 a.m.) The steamer Galician has arrived. She reports that a German cruiser signalled her to stop and not to use her -wireless. The operator immediately sent out " 5.0.8." signals. He had sent the first three letters, with the Galician's name, when the Germans signalled : "We will blow up the bridge if another letter leaves." The German officers then came aboard. They were courteous, but arrested a British Army officer and a gunner. While the incident was proceeding, a German lineT, disguised in the colours of the Union Castle line, appeared. The cruiser forced her to hoist the German mercantile flag. The Galician's passengers cheered the. Germans as they left. The Galician was allowed to proceed after her wireless installation had been wrecked.
