YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

The Club opened its winter session on Saturday evening in the club room of the Young Women's Christian Association. Aβ is usual on these nights, a crowd of bright and happy members and their friends assembled for an evening of fun and laughter. Miss J. Reid, s the entertainment secretary of the club, opened with a speech of welcome, saying how pleased she was to see so many of the past eeesions members present and so many new faces. She outlined the plan of the club, mentioning one or two new features of the year. Miss J. Kaye was then introduced as convener of the Hospitality Committee, which acts as a welcoming committee as well'as attending to all supper arrangements. Miss. M. Haelett, .the treasurer of the club, also epoke a few words of welcome, and explained a simple plan by which club members could, if they so desired, help in making the club pay its own l way. The title of the evening was an "autograph evening," which did not oonsiet, as visitors supposed, of writing names in each others autograph albums, but consisted of a number of original autograph eompetitione, the, one most provocative of laughter being that of writing one's name on the blackboard with eyee blindfolded. The winners of the competition prizes were Misses Foley, Hercus, Gardham, Vand Keenan. During the evening songs were sung by Misses J. Macdonald and R. Stevension, a violin and piano solo was given by Mieses Rosio and, Violet Gardham, and a recitation bv Miss M. Haslett. At the close Miss Griffin explained that, next Saturday night was to be a games night, and was chiefly for the younger girls. Till the end of the winter the club room would thus be open on Saturday nights to any girl seeking a real evening's recreation.
