CONFLAGRATION AT BLENHEIM.
.». BLENHEIM, April 1. I Fire broke out at Clouston's wharf last evening. Shortly after the steamer Blenheim left the wharf a young man noticed fire, which was apparently under the wharf. He communicated with the steamer Opawa, and the alarm was given by her whistle. The bond, the goods shed, and the machinery shed were totally destroyed, with their contents, and the wharf was partially destroyed. The • goods shed was fully stocked, including 4000 sacks of barley, 2000 sacks of peas, lines of wheat, oats, and chaff, and general merchandise. The machinery was valued at £1000, and portion of the caTgo just landed by the Blenheim was also destroyed. Clouston s stock and machinery were valued at £9COO, and the buildings and the wharf at £4000. The insurances available are: Wharf, bond, and goods shed, £2250; machinery and implements, £610; stock, £5500 in the National. These include Clouston's own goods and what the firm is responsible for. Parker and Co. lost 640 sacks of chaff, 200 bales of hay, and 200 sacks of peas. These were insured for £250 in the British Dominions office. The general individual losses are not available. ' j
