As a sequel to the defalcations of Lowry, Paymaster of the- Fleet, Captain Cayley and Commander Rideout, both of H.M.S. Ganges, ziave been court-martialled for negligence in supervision of the accounts. The court reprimanded them.

A woman at the Glasgow Police .Court was charged with the theft of £17 10s. A search of her clothes was unsuccessful, but an X-ray photograph showed that she had swallowed 1§ sovereigns and five halfsovereigns.

The design of the French postage stamp is being changed to a view of the Eiffel Tower with an aeroplane flying past. The present stamp (a woman with outstretched' arms sowing a field of corn) is too easily forged. NEW YORK, April 17. The Feminist Association is spending £20,000 in'erecting "flats" for the use of married women engaged in business and professions. A nursery school, with a trained staff, will be planted on the roof.
