SCHOOL BIBLE CLASS.

PRIZE-GIVING AT BALCLUTHA.

The Balclutha .clergymen—the Revs. Currie (Presbyterian), Grocnsi;uTe (Methodist), and Stubbs (Anglican)—who conduct weekly Bible lessons in tho Balclutha District High School initiated a forward movement on Thursday night by holding a meeting of the children with their parents and friends. The rector (Mr W. W. Turner), who presided, referred to the eelf-denying labour of the clergymen and to the good work which he believed they were doing. Each of tho clergymen gave addrceses, Mr Stubbs speaking on the Bible-in-«;hool6, Mr Currie on the Bible as literature, and Mr Grcenslado on the Bible in life. The children contributed to a musical programme. Two examinations had been held during the year, and Messrs Stubbs, Grecnslado, and Currie gave our the prizes. The following is tho list: — Fimt half-year: Standarde 111 and IV — Maidie Grigor, Margaret M'Konzic, Lena Maefarliine, and George Mitchell; Standards V and Vl—Angus M'Kenzio, Cora. Stonhouse, Isabel Sutherland, and May Bishop; secondary department—Grace Macfarlane, Mavis Malcolm, Margaret Oohnetoii, and Vera Harrison. Second half-year: Standarde 111 and IV—Jean Noble, Maidie Grigor, Annio Johnston, and Pearl Gillespio; Standard.-, V and Vl—Lilian Waymouth, Cora Stenhousn, Isabella Sutherland. Ruth Hull, .and Nellie Batchclar.
