ALLEGED THEFT.

A MAN ARRESTED.

(Peii U:;ited Press Association.) DARCAVILLE, February 24. George John Burbury, a recent arrival from Home, was arrested at Aralapu yesterday, and charged with the theft of a gold watch and two chains, of tho value of £15 15s, from the Central notel, also a portmanteau belonging to another boarder: The chains and portmanteau were sold to different people. The watch was hidden on the railway line at Kaihu, which place he made for after the theft. Hβ walked 30 miles over the gumficlds to Aratapu, where he was arrested. Most of the property was recovered.
