Pierre, the engineer in charge of the factory, was arrested on suspicion, but his innocence has been almost fully established. The throat of the missing man was cut, but tho medical testimony held that death was duo to strangling.
Another post mortom examination, however, was ordered, and this disclosed the presence of a bullet in the brain. The wound where the bullet entered was hidden by a cut in the throat.
It is stated that M. Pierre obtained a revolver from the nightwatchman.
Paul Cadiou, manager of an engineering factory, disappeared from Brest early in December. His brother, who had conducted an unavailing search for him, received about tho beginning of January a letter stating that a fortune toller said that a tall, dark-bearded man, aged 55, had murdered Paul, and hid tho body in a ditch near tho factory. The brother was incredulous, but searched and found tho body.
