INQUIRY TO BE MADE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, Fehruary 18. In the" House of Commons Mr Snowden stated that there were 5000 blind persons in the workhouses, 5000 receiving parish relief, 7000 begging in flic streets, and 3000 employed in institutions at less than 10s weekly.
Mr Asquith undertook to consider the question of an inquiry, with a view to devising a scheme of national assistance.
