KAITANGATA FLOWER SHOW
A GOOD DISPLAY. Tho eleventh annual show of tho ICaitangata Horticultural and Industrial Society was Held y<sterday, and was formally opined in tho alternoou by the Mayor <il KaJtangatu, (Mr I'. Sonne:*). There were about 50 more entries than the previous year, and the increaso was pretty well distributed over tho various sections. There is no gainsay in r the fact that tho exhibition win in every way creditable to t'lio district. The feature was the sweet peas, some of which -.vere magnificent specimens. 'J he cactus dahlias were also very good, and the asters wen: of good, quality. Mr (J. .1. Burrows judged tiie Mowers, frii.it, and vegetables, and Misses Burgess and Charters the cookery. The iiri/.o list of tho fruit, vegetables "and industrial and fine arus sections of tho show was not available up to the time of tho train halving, but, by tho courtesy of tho secretary (Mr W. 11. Michaelis) opportunity will bo afforded of .publishing it later on. Tho officials were, kept busy during the day, and at the head of thejii was tho president (Mr George Aitchcson). It may bo mentioned that Messrs Uowden and Moncrieff had a lino stand of gladioli in the show for exhibition only, and that for champion blooms the winners were:—Cactus dahlias, Mr George Aitchcson; show dahlias, Mr A. Bissct; sweet peas, Mr George Aitchcson; and rose, Mr J. Sharman.
