LIVING WAGE

JUDGE HEYDON'S STANDARD

BOTH SIDES SATISFIED

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright,

SYDNEY, February 18. Inquiries made among representatives of employers and employed show that both sides express satisfaction with Judge Heydon in his fixing of a living wage.

Mr Conroy, M.L.A., however, points out that the Commonwealth cannot afford to pay every adult a fixed limit unless production is largely increased, und, unless it is, other sections of the community vill have to bear the expense. It is mwiifeet, therefore, that payments in accordance with Judge Heydon's standard in some directions can only be met at present by lessening wages in other directions.
