NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS.
ANNUAL MEETING. (Peb United Pbess Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, February 18. The annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association was continued today and was concluded at 11 p.m.. This is considered to he one of the most important meetings yet held.
Among , the different subjects brought, forward by tho president (Mr P. Selig) was the World's Pross Parliament, wiiieh it is proposed to -hold in connection with the Panama. Pacific lnteruntionol Exposition, at San Francisco, in 1915. Reference was al&o made to Mr Mark Cohen's (editor Dunedin Star) approaching jubilee, ami to the president's recent severe illness.
Mr Solig was unanimously re-elected president for tile outsuing year, and highly laudatory remarks were made regarding his valuable services in newspaper circles. Reference was also mado to the valuable services to tho association of Mr A. Blanton, who will shortly be leaving the dominion for Australia. Additional officers were elected as follows:—Vice-president, Mr F. E. Hyman (manager of t:lie Lyttclion Times); committee —Messrs Pirani, Ci. M'Robio, G. Blundell, 11. H. Orton; secretary and treasurer, Mr 15. Keys; lion, auditor, Mr E. R. Km-.
This afternoon the visitors wcix> the guctsts of the Tourist and Expansion League mid wore shown over the Moturoa oil fields. To-morrow afternoon they will be entertained by ihe local newspaper proprieto; , -'.
Tho annual meeting of the Press Association will bo held to-morrow, and that of tho Master Printers on Friday.
