LEITH STREET CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
The painting and renovation of the Leith Street Congregational Church has just been, oompleted, and anyone entering tlio pretty little building ""ill agree that a very pleasing and effective transformation has been .iccomplished both within and without. AH the necessary details of the work have been carefully and tastefully carried out, and the resulting harmonious whole is most satisfactory for all concerned. In order to defray the expenses involved' a concert was arranged, and was held last night. The congregation was fortunate in securing the .lssktancc of a. number of Dunedin's most popular entertainers, and their performers was enjoyed by a. crowded audience. Tho Rev. A. H. Wallace presided, and in a few opening remarks complimented those responsible for tho workmanship put' into the renovation of the building. The soloiete of the evening included Misses Maud Thomas, Clarkson, P. Mackie, Messrs G. Roach, S. S. Angell, Leach, Mearns, A. Sligo, and A. Dempster Recitations wore contributed by 'Misses F. Churchill and Divers, and Master 3 Swift, duets by tho Misses Thomas and by Messrs Angell" and Peakc. and a cornet *>lo by Mr W. Thomas. Tho entertainment was brought to a conclusion by a glee from the Leit.h stroet choir, tinder tho direction of Mr 11. Stewart. The accompaniments throughout the evening were provided by Mrs Gardiner and Mr D. Cooko. Mr Cooko also contributing an organ solo. On the motion of Mr J. S. Douglas, a very cordial vote of thanks was accorded the performers
