We have received from Messrs Stone, Son, and Co. a copy of their Otago and Southland Directory for 1914. This is the second occasion on which tho publication has ber.n issued in its new and handy dimensions, and t.hoso whose business necessities their using the book constantly have found the new size a great deal more convenient. Like its predecessors, the present edition contains numerous additions and improvements, and the work as a wholq is a commendab'.e achievement on tho part of the publishers. The street and country directories contain all the streets in and around Dunedin, Gore, Invercargill, and Oamaru, together with alphabetical directories and postal information of all the country towns and postal districts in Otago and Southland, with full names and occupations of tho inhabitants, whether in business or not. The names of boarders and male members of a household above 21 years of ago are also given hi the street directory. Then there is the alphabetical section covering the inhabitants of the two provinces.' and the trades section, which contains a list of the various banking, and other financial institutions, manufacturers, trades, professions, and businesses throughout the provincial districts. In addition, there are ections dealing with municipal and county affairs, official and judicial, educational and ecclesiastical, railway, postal and telegraphic affairs, besides a great deal of general information of daily use to business men and others. Maps are published this year of Dunedin, Invercargill, New Zealand, Oamaru, and Otago and Southland, the 'whole work having been brought entirely up-to-date.
