BAY TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Bay Town Board was held last evening, there being present, Messrs E. F. Duthie (in the chair), J. B. Shacklock, J. Whjrte, A. Lee Smith, W. D. M'Carthy, and R. J. Barrett. CORRESPONDENCE. A letter was received from the Marino Department in re the application of the Otago Harbour Board for authority to reclam 23 acres of land fronting the inlet to Anderson's Bay, stating that tho Governor-iii-Oouncil would bo advised to approvo of the reclamation when the Harbour Board came to satisfactory arrangements with the Dunedin Drainage and_ Sewerage Board in regard to the objection raised by that body concerning the provision of proper means for carrying oil' storm water. —The matter was left to Messrs Shaoklock and Duthie to watch tho board's interests.

Mr E. H. Olark, M.P., wrote enclosing a letter from the Minister of Public Works with regard to the closing of a road as requested by the Rev. A. C. Cameron, which suited that no objection will bo raised by tho department provided the board carry out the requisite statutory requirementsReferred to the town clerk to act.

Mr J. H. Carter wrote objecting to the laying of a drain through sections 156, 159, and 160, Sunshine, to dra ; n sections in Kawhiti street.—lt was decided that the necessary steps be taken to construct the drain. ■

■ A letter was received from the Anderson's Bay Quarry Syndicato in reply to a complaint that the headworlt6 of their water supply were in a dangerous condition, and pointing out that the dangerous portion referred to was in no way connected with the water supply system, the head works of which were on private property and not accessible to the public.—Received. Tuo Town Clerk pointed out that he had since discovered that it belonged to Mrs Ross, An application from Mr W. M'Lennan, Castle Hill, for permission to make an approach from his property to Peterson street was received. —Tho letter was referred to Mr Whyte and the town clerk; Mr M'Lennan to be advised that the board insist on some suitable protection subject to its approval being erected. A petition signed by several ratepayers *jf Bayfield Extension for a footpath along the stretch of Tamui road and Ocean View street leading to their residences was referred to Mr Shacklock and the town clerk to report on. • Mr- Jas. Gracie wroto complaining that although ho previously had informed the board of tho damage done to property in ■Musselburgh Rise by tho water in Rawhiti street, nothing 'had been done.—Mr M'Carthy and the town clerk to report. Mr Wm. Gall notified that owing to the irregular and insufficient pressure of tho water supply it was of no use to him, and he asked to bo disconnected. —It was resolved tlm't the request be granted, and that tho inspector be instructed to disconnect the supply, Mr Gall to be charged half rates. Mr Chas. Stubley, Bayfield road, wrote pointing out that since tho pipes were laid through his section, the' outlet of surface water had became blocked and was causing damage to h's garden.—Mr Shacklock and tho town clerk to report GENERAL. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £77 15s Id. The inspector's report on the work done was approved of. The clerk was authorised to prosecute owners of unregistered dogs. The question of town-planning was men-' tioned by Mr M'Carthy, and Mr Shacklock also spoke on tho matter. The following motion was carried: "'That the Dunedin City Counoil be written to asking it to convene a meeting of local authorities within a radius of six to eight miles to go into the question of town planning.
