(Pir OmTHD Press Association ) AUCKLAND, August 28. Thomas Sntor, the proprietor.of a, business which combined a scheme whereby prizes were won by chance, was fined £25 at the. Police Court to-day. It was ex plained by the police that the business was really a fancy goods' shop in which attendants sold penny cakes of chocolate for Is, the purchaser being entitled to draw for a prize. Two assistants (Rass and Firth) were each fined £5. All the accused pleaded guilty.

_ WELLINGTON, August 28, Tho National Sweet Pea Society's Shdvv will bo held in the Town Hall this year, in combination with the Rrco and Carnation Club, on 10. so as to give growers in the South Island an opportunity of competing.
