OPPOSITION LEADERSHIP.
NO DEFINITE MOVE. . (Fboh Ocr Own Coebespondeni.) WELLINGTON, July 28. The Opposition has not yet given any deiinite iildication of aji intention to concentrate its forces under a single leader. So far as visible indications go its attitude 13 that of Mr Micawbcr. One member of the party was, asked to-day whother the prospective early arrival of Sir Joseph Ward would give rise to any attempt to settle the leadership problem. He re> plied that a meeting would no doubt bo held at an early date aad that something definite would be done, but whether Sir Josoph Ward was likely to be selected as leader or to accept the office if offered it ho was not prepared to say. Dr Te Rangihtroa i 6 expected to return to Wellington next week, and the arrival of Sir Joseph Ward 011 Mofldav will bring the Opposition party lip to full strength savo for the absence of Sir James Carroll, who has not yet fully recovered from the effccrts of his recent illness and will probably not tako ut) his parliamentary duties for another month or six weeks. Sir James paid a visit to Parliament House to-day. Although he has improved a great deal in health he is | still far from being his former self.
