RIPA ISLAND "MARTYRS."
CHARGES DISMISSED. (Per United Press Association.) GTIRISTCHURCH, July 23. Twelve lads from the detention cainp at Itipa Island were to-day charged with failing to render obedience to the commands of the officer at the camp. Mr Cassidy, for the defendants, contended that the lads detained were required under the Act to do only such duties as wci'c appointed by the commandant and approved by the Defence Minister. There was no proof that the duties which the defendants were ordered to carry «ut had been so approved by tile Minister, The.Magistrate upheld the contention and dismissed the informations.
