HEAVY EXPENDITURE. Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. LONDON, July 22. (Received July 22, at 11.15 p.m.) In the House of Commons Mr Birrell introduced the Irish Land Purchase Bill. He said the total expenditure up till the present time was over £100,000,000, and it was estimated that a further sum of £60,000,000 would be required to be provided for—half in cash and half in stock. He hoped that the purchase would be completed in 10 or 15 years. An additional £1,000,000 would be needed for labourers'-cottages.
