THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY.

Mr D. \Y. M. Bum. lectured in the Thcosoph'ical Hull, Dowliiig street, on Sunday evening, basins his, address upon the text, " Hut whom say yo that I am?" The rock noon which »H great faiths wero founded," said the lecturer,, was the truth of tl]u one life, the divine life of "God in all men. This was tho divine incarnation, the light that lighteth every man that cometh into tho world. Corresponding to tho three persons of the trinity were tho three great offices in tho .hierarchy; that of tho Maim, tho divine ruler and guide of nations, part of whose work- was the blending of races and the setting of now types; that of tho Christ or Boddhisattva. who came at tho beginning of each great race to teach again tho eternal truths, giving to each tho keynote of the fresh stage of evolution; and that of the Malta Cliohan, part of whose work was the preparation of tho materials from which the new type of bodies was to be built. In the present day little, or nothing was heard of the first and last of these great ones, for tho cry of tho present ago was for knowledge, and naturally peopleturned fo that facet of divinity, that jrreat Son of God who came as tho teacher of gods and men. So great was tho radiance of Him who now holds this exulted office that some had forgotten that He over trod earth as man—not the earth that was known to-day, but the corresponding planet of n previous chain. To believe thus did not rob the Christ of His glory, but made possible I lie belief that wo too should some clay be perfect, even as He was perfect, for in us, too, flowed tho divine life of God. Every man was to himself absolutely the way, the truth, and the life, for in every man was tho iltvino life of God, and it was tho recognition of this great fact of tho one life which set man upon the ancient path of hoiinws which led to union with God.
