' It was not, however, without a personal Tnotivo that Puccini undertook the journey to London, for, while eager to express hi« appreciation of Mr Forbes Robertson's performance in the role of the blind artist, it was mainly to judge the suitability of the play for musical purposes that he came. Puccini, in short, is seriously contemplating using the story as a libretto for an opera, always, of oouree, with the sanction of Sudyard Kipling.
