A meeting of the executive of the Dune'din Competitions Society was held on Friday evening. Present: Messrs R. A. Ewing (in the chair), S. Solomon, K.C., J. A- Park, J. L. Salmond,' J. H. Walker, W. ' Thomson, J. W. Smith, H. F. Moss, A. C. Hanlon, Dr Roberts and Dr Hall. Mr W. C. MacGregor wrote agreeing to act as one of the judges of the impromptu debate. Mr J. Inglis Wright intimated that ne would act as judge of the children's essay. Mr J. R Morris wrote agreeing to judge the photography competition, ' The Railway Traffic Manager advised the granting of the usual concessions to competitors and judges coming from the side Dunedin to the competitions. Mr Alfred Barry, the music judge, acknowledged receipt of music, and asked that accommodation be secured for him.— Referred to the secretary to act.

A competitor wrote asking if it would be lermifsible for a professional to act as accompanist in the musical monologne.— Decided that it was not permissible.

An inquiry was received as to whether character costumes and accessories would be permitted in the child's ac'ion scng. - The secretary was instructed to advise all competitors that thev could have the necessary accersories, but not character costumes, and it was resolved that f-he question of including an action song in character for next year be noted for consideration by the committee next year. It was resolved that a box plan Le opened for the season, and that patrons be allowed to book seats at a booking fee of 6d.

It was resolved to ask his Worship the Mavor to officially open the festival. The matter of*stage furnishings, etc, was left in the hands of Mr H. F. Moss and the secretarv.
