CONCORD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL, The second anniversary social of the Concord Presbyterian Church was held last evening, and the building was inadequate to meet, the demands made upon ite scatuig acoommodation. Members, adherents, and friends turned out in full force, and the gathering was of a pleasant and enjoyable nature to all concerned. The Rev. J. ltf!patrkk, minister of the church, occupied the chair, and was accompanied on the platform by the Rev. E. A. Adams, of Nasoby. The Chairman delivered a siiort address in which ho reviewed the events of the past year, and expressed optimistio views regarding tho future. He stated that they had reached the conclusion of the second year of the church's existence. During that period it had fulfilled its purposes, and its work had been blessed in a very acceptable manner. Tho Sunday school had been carried on continuously •dnrin.j the past year, and there had been divine service at least once a month. The former had been .well attended by the young people, and the teachers had done excellent work. It had always been a great pleasure to him to conduct the ■ services in tho church on Sunday afternoon, and he had been very much'struck by tho hearty interest which | the young people showed in it. He hoped ' that before the end of another year they would be able to havo far more services in | the church, land, in faot,' arrangements would be made as soon as possible to utilise the building every Sunday afternoon. He . would also liko to see a week-night service ! instituted, and he fought they should . establish a Band of Hope. 'In conclusion ! he referred gratefully to the excellent ecr--1 vices that had been rendered during the ', year by tho organist (Mr Orr) and the two , deacons (Messrs Smellie and Christie).

The Rev. Mr Adams ako delivered a short address, and was listened to with close attention.

The principal i>art of the proceedings consisted of a programme of musical and elocutionary items, contributed in the main by the young people. The following submitted items :—Miss Mary Chambers (recitation), Miss M. Esquilant (songs), Miss Nellie Johnston (piano eo'o), Mrs Jensen (song), Miss Gwennio Miller (monologue). Mies Ella Jack (piano solo), Miss Olivo Samson (song), Mies Winnie ftmith (piano solo), Mr and Mrs Slade (duet), the Chinese brethren (sacred solo), and Miss M. Clulce (recitation).

During tho evening refreshments were handed round by the ladies, and were thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
